This is called real Gnananayakam. In those days, the politicians of high level also traveled along with the public unlike a special chartered plane which is in vogue now-a-days. Also there is no pomp and show when a politician travels by keeping a number of guards and policemen in civil dress, which is a common sight now-a-days. The politicians of yester years were considering themselves as “ONE AMONGST THE MASS” and no special honour or dignity was considered. This shows the mind set of the earlier politicians and the present-day politicians. The mind set of present day politicians are that they are the masters and the mass at large are dependents. In fact, the politicians lose sight of the fact that they are the servants of the mass and they are supposed to do what the mass want.

The picture clearly shows the humility of the then Prime Minister who respected the citizens particularly the Senior citizens. From the very act of coming behind normal Praja, it shows that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has respected the old people and also the general public. He had no EGO. If all our politicians behave like this, what will be the scenario now? This is the real GNANANAYAKAM.
